Academics and Curriculum
Trinity Christian School is committed to provide a solid education
that is Christian based. In order to accomplish this goal, the
elementary program uses a combination of the ABeka, ACSI and Bob
Jones curriculum as determined appropriate for each specific grade
level. All grades use the Bible curriculum from the Association of
Christian School International (ACSI) series.
TCS Upper Elementary uses a diversified curriculum that utilizes the
most appropriate materials to meet the academic needs of our
students. The Kindergarten classes use the ABeka curriculum in all
subjects. First grade uses the ABeka curriculum in reading,
penmanship, grammar and spelling. The Bob Jones curriculum is used
for both science and history. The Second Grade uses the Abeka
curriculum for reading and penmanship. All other subjects use the
Bob Jones curriculum. The Third-Fourth Grades use the Bob Jones
curriculum.
Students
participate in the Stanford Achievement Test each spring and
generally score above average and test one year ahead of grade
level. Students in lower elementary participate in extracurricular
classes including Music, Physical Education, Library, Spanish and
Computer. Students also participate in weekly chapel services that
focus on building relationships with God.
The elementary program competes annually in the following ACSI
competitions: speech, spelling, math, and art.
Student/Teacher
Ratios
Trinity Christian School strives to have a teacher/student ratio
that
enables both students and teachers to perform with excellence. Each
level takes into account the room size, student age/size, and space
requirements for that grade. Class sizes may be expanded by a few
students for various reason, such as attrition.
Typically the class ratios are as follows:
K5 - 1 to 18
1st Grade - 1 to 20
2nd through 4th Grade - 1 to 22
